My Arcam Alpha 7 CD player suddenly stops working...

I own an amplifier and a CD player of the Arcam Alpha 7 series for almost 10 years... On Friday (13/02/2009), my Alpha 7 CD player did not start, for no apparent reason. The day before, I was listening to a disk and experienced no problem at all. On Friday, I switch it on (with the power button) and nothing happens.

I have tried to contact the Arcam's helpdesk but, after a week, still get no answer. Assuming the problem came from a trivial cause (such as fuse) and encouraged by a friend, I decided to open the CD player by myself.

I just removed 4 large screws (on the right and the left side) and two thin ones (from the top of the rear panel) and the slipcase easily opened. Inside, close to power supply entry, I indeed discovered two fuse cradles. Only one was provided... but the mainboard was self-explanatory (see picture) : "Fit one fuse only!". I also discovered a second fuse with the label : "spare fuse" (see picture).

What a joy to discover that everything was anticipated by Arcam engineers !

I just replace the in-place fuse by the "spare fuse"... And I was done : my superb CD player works now as nicely as before (for 10 more years I hope).
